Ultraviolet germicidal energy is radiation produced by low--pressure mercury lamps. The light bulbs are made of special glass, which allows the passage of light rays emanating at 254 nanometers. This partecular radiation has the ability to kill all microorganisms it comes in contact with.
The life of a UV germicidal lamp is generally 9,000 hours. Lamps change outs should be done once a year as the effectiveness of the lamp is reduced over time.
