Of the bird lamp, the light produced, is of the same spectrum, and same UV content as the fluorescent tube form of the bird lamp, and so it offers all the same benefits to the health and well-being of the birds, but unlike the linear tube, it fits directly into any household bulb socket, meaning that it can easily be mounted over the cage using a suitable standard lamp, or wall mounted lamp fitting.

Advantages︰ The independent testing indicated that these bulbs have the highest level available of both UVB (6.1%) and UVA (30%) wavelength. UVB wavelength prevents and can help reverse Metabolic Bone Disease in captive reptiles. Additionally, UVB will strengthen reptile bones and improve shell growth on all captive turtles and tortoises. UVA wavelength increases appetite, activity and helps induce reproductive behavior in captive reptiles. While most fluorescent bulbs wavelengths only last 6 months, these "5.0" fluorescent bulbs will continue to produce strong UVA/UVB for a full year.
